And the plan has nothing to do with the mansion’s lurid history.
The name of the property conjures lurid pictures of the crazy, luxury parties Hefner hosted on the years at the 20,000-square-foot house — but LA councilman Paul Koretz is concentrated on another facet of the house’s background.
The lavish home was constructed in 1927, and lots of the time details have stayed maintained. Hefner famously eschewed modern touches from the main home, in favor of keeping up a stately Gilded Age decorative.
Soon before Hefner’s departure earlier this season , the Mansion was bought for about $100 million by Darren Metropoulos, heir to the Hostess snack cake company empire. In accordance with The Real Deal, Metropoulos was vocal about plans to unite the mansion together with his current estate next door. In case the mansion has been declared a milestone, it is going to shield the property with that form of extensive alteration and when there were attempts to demolish the structure, the town of Los Angeles would have to reassess the situation.
